food for thought journal:
7-day mental health journey through
7 psychological dimensions of food
"Food, in the end, in our own tradition,
is something holy. It's not about nutrients
and calories. It's about sharing. It's about honesty. It's about identity."
- Louise Fresco
Food is not just about nutrition, medicine, or weight.  Food connects us with other people at the core of our identities. Both eating too much and eating too little can be classified as psychosocial disorders.  Food, diet, and eating are as much mental and emotional activities as they are physical. The human digestive system is closely related to the human brain; they cannot function without one another.  Similarly, mental health and physical health are impossible to separate.  As a culture, we desperately need to shift our utilitarian attitude towards food.
That's why I created my Food for Thought Mental Health Journal.
This journal is part of my Take Back Your Health Series.  It explores a psychological dimension of food every day for 7 days:

day 1: identity
day 2: language
day 3: community
day 4: relationship
day 5: insecurity
day 6: responsibility
day 7: agency

Each dimension is broken down into 3 journal prompts:

1) fill in the blank: to apply the psychological dimension to the reader's life & explore the role of food in the reader's personal history
2) 5-minute essay: to deep-dive into 1 aspect of the psychological dimension as it relates to the reader's personal opinions & experience
3) stream of consciousness: to emotionally & intuitively react to a quote about how food & cooking impact human life.

Are you ready to explore your
psychological relationship with food?

This journal is intended to help the reader connect more deeply with food on every level.  It walks with the reader through the sometimes overwhelming journey to explore mental and emotional attitudes towards food, diet, and eating. It should be used as a tool to help the reader take back personal health.

If, for any reason, you do not find this journal helpful in your journey as a parent, please reach out to me for a full refund.

My goal is not to pretend I have the answers. Instead, I want to promote the scope and the gravity of the issues modern parents face. I want to help parents equip themselves with the knowledge and information they need to make truly informed choices for their children. To foster in themselves both awareness of the freedom to refuse and viable alternatives. To take the responsibility for their family’s health back into their own hands. To take back self-education and self-advocacy. And, in the process, transform themselves from victim into agent.
